So its been decided- Donald Trump is officially the next president of the United States.
The outcome of this election was shocking to millions, myself included. A lot of people thought that there was no way that Trump would be elected, but America has spoken, and he is now the face of our country.
Normally election season is a special time in America, motivating people all over the country to be passionate about what they want for our future, but this election was much different. This election was based on proving who was the worst candidate, and who would do more damage to our country.
People became divided more than ever when discussing the election and its candidates, and it became a battle between friendly people arguing who has done worse.
But when the verdict came on who was elected, things got much, much worse.
Indeed, many people were outraged about the outcome of the election, and they have every right to be. Everyone has their own personal set of values and beliefs, and its okay for them to be upset if the candidate they did not vote for got into office.
What truly went wrong is when supporters of each candidate started attacking each other and their character based on the candidate that person voted for. People are bullying and making outrageous claims about others from the opposite party that is completely unnecessary.
What we need to all realize and take away is that we are ALL Americans, and we are all EQUAL. Now more than ever, we need to work and come together as a country to make the United States the best it can be. We need to base our platforms on love and acceptance, rather than hatred for opposing sides and opinions.
Although some of your views may have changed on a person based on the candidate they voted for, at the end of the day they are still the same person.
The biggest take away we all need to remember is that we need to be proud to be an American, even if we are not proud of our president.
Overall, this was an extremely messy election, both on the political and societal sides of things. If we cant fix the messy outcome on the politics side, lets all try our best to come together as a society, and build our foundation as a country up with love, instead of a wall.
