What Typically Happens When You Have Siblings

Could you believe I once wished I was an only child?

What Typically Happens When You Have Siblings

The day my first sibling was born, I knew I was in for a wild ride. I was excited and proud to show off my baby brother, but after a while I wished I could’ve brought him back to the hospital. I have wished to be an only child before, but then I realized that I wouldn’t have the fun, energetic, never boring life that I am blessed to have.

To this day, my siblings and I still fight over what show to watch on TV. Yes, I still cover the cable box with my hand…but how else would I stop those devils? As we age together, we mature but still hold our childish side too close. Some things will never change.

Regardless of if you have one sibling or more, you know that taking family pictures is never easy. Someone always messes with another one and the picture turns out a little something like this:

...Or this:

Siblings, especially little ones, are easily impressionable. You'll find that they begin to like the things that you like. Nothing is better than sharing those things with each other and passing along your interests and hobbies. (Yes, she's watching a Jaclyn Hill video)

If you’re the oldest, you’re probably familiar with your little siblings stealing your clothes without consent. Your closet is sacred to them, but it’s not cool to see your little sister/brother walking around in your favorite shirt without you knowing.

Don't forget having the greatest glo-up pictures with your sibs:

You'll also always have someone to be a child with no matter what. Being that I'm the oldest, I've had to do a number of things that 19 year olds just don't do. However, it brings out my childish side and makes me feel like I'm happily back in elementary school.

There’s also never a dull day in your house. I can guarantee you that there will always be an argument or a disagreement. On a rare occasion, you may get along with your siblings. However, these occasions are scarce and when they do happen, you probably act like idiots anyway. Someone will wind up getting yelled at no matter how great you're getting along.

Speaking of never having a dull moment, you'll always have someone to be silly with and make you laugh.

And finally, no matter if you're the youngest or oldest, you'll always have someone to look up to and lead the way.

In the midst of it all, I would never want to be an only child. The memories I've made with my siblings are ones that I'll cherish forever. One day I'll tell our crazy stories to my children and hope that they'll have the great experiences I had, too.

Plus, siblings are sometimes a little cute.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
