This was a random idea of mine—to write these things out in a list, as a sort of poem. Here are some things I think when a person, any person, looks at me (and boy do they reflect my personality). In no particular order.
Do you like me?
Am I bothering you?
Am I boring?
Can I help you?
Am I in your way?
You are a person just like me.
I’m selfish. Let me help you.
I’m bothering you. I should leave.
Could we be friends?
Thank you for looking at me. I appreciate that.
You’re being too nice. I don’t deserve this attention.
I know I’m not pretty.
Can we talk for a while?
I wish I could find out more about you.
You probably don’t want to talk to me.
I’m sorry you have to listen to me.
Maybe you do like me? Really?
I really hope you have a good day.
And on and on. Of course I think other things depending on who the person is, if I know him/her or not, what his/her face and eyes are like, etc., etc. It's amazing what can happen in the brain in the split second we make eye contact with someone.
On a happier note, I hope you have a good day . . . really.
