As we all know, there was some really big news released this week: the new holiday Starbucks cups. In past years, there has been huge controversy over these seemingly simple coffee holders. Last year, the holiday cups were a simple red, sparking anger at the "overly secular." Starbucks seemed excited for the media attention once again, so of course they waited until a week when nothing else was going on to release the cups. That's right: cups, plural. Starbucks has released 13 versions of the classic red cup, with 13 holiday designs from local artists. With so many cups, it might be hard to know what's supposed to offend you, what's supposed to excite you, what you're supposed to do. To make your life a little easier, here is a list of exactly what each cup means.
1. The Snowflake Cup
What's more festive and non-religious than snow? Look at that storm going after your cup! It's a wonderland! Put on some mittens and get ready to build a snowman!
2. The Patronus Cup

3. The Reindeer Cup

4. The Candy Cane Explosion
WOAH, what happened here? A candy cane factory burst open and released havoc on the world. The only acceptable drink to put in here is a Peppermint Mocha.
5. The Whispy Leaves Cup
Ooh pretty. This one's less holiday, and more pretty trees in the cold. I guess you could pretend that it's mistletoe. Hold it above your crush's head and smack one on them.
6. The Pine Tree Cup
Look at those Christmas trees! Why are they outside? How strange. I guess baby Christmas trees grow up in the outside world. This cup is very educational.
7. The Winona Ryder Cup
If you haven't seen Stranger Things, well you should. Anyway, this cup bears a striking resemblance to Winona Ryder's house in the show.
8. The Sweater Cup
This cup is as warm and cozy as your real Christmas sweater. Just don't try to wrap this one around your actual body, the hot coffee will probably burn.
9. The Ornament Cup
Ornaments! Fun! You can cut these out and hang them on your tree (or your menorah or anything else)! Just try to wash the coffee off the other side.
10. The Swirly Cup
This is possibly the best doodle to have ever been doodled on a coffee cup. It's like a windy day, if the wind could color those cool lines on its way.
11. The Winter Wonderland Cup
It's like the North Pole, Disneyworld, and coffee all rolled into one beautiful cup. As the cup so succinctly states, it is filled to the brim with love and joy.
12. The Birch Tree Cup
Is that a forest or your coffee cup? Who knows! The best part is that these trees don't even have to be snow-capped, because they are already white.
13. The Sleigh Ride Cup
You don't need to go any further than a Starbucks to go on a beautiful and winter-y sleigh ride. So go ahead, grab your Chesnut Praline Latte, and let Rudolph fly you over those swirls and by the moon. Thanks Starbucks!
