What My Teachers From High School Must Know

A Chance To Say Thank You

What My Teachers From High School Must Know

We all remember the day vividly. Walking into high school for the very first time. If you're anything like me, your heart seemed to beat rapidly through your chest. The year goes on, you find your way around school, meet countless people from all different types of social backgrounds, and try to figure out who you are and how you will make a mark around campus. You feel uneasy at times with the rather challenging adjustment, but your teachers provide endless support every step of the way. Specifically, jumping ahead, sophomore, junior, and senior year roll around. You begin to develop stronger relationships with your teachers, and you FINALLY begin to realize the impact an American History teacher, a few Theology teachers, English teachers, and a school counselor can have on your life. However, the following simple yet heartfelt message falls short of reaching teachers often: "thank you." Therefore, I want to take this time now to express my sincere thanksgiving.

To my dearest, loving, selfless teachers from MCA:

1) Thank you for pushing me to be the person God intended me to be. You may not realize it now, but by simply starting every class with prayer intention offerings and a short prayer, you instilled in me a desire to know God intimately and His beautiful creation.

2) Thank you for living up to the standards of what it means to give of yourselves for your students. I'll never forget how often you told me the following consoling statements: "come see me if you need help," "I'm here for you," and more importantly and fundamentally, "I'm praying for you."

3) Thank you for changing my perspective on life. You set a profound example for us all to follow. I am eternally grateful for the indelible mark you have left on my heart and will always remember how you made me feel each and every day: loved. God bless you.

P.S. If you happened to be my English teacher and read this article, please excuse the grammatical errors. I apologize.

With love,

Your Former Student, Maureen (Moe) Richard

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
