Trying to figure things out at the age of 18 years old is as difficult as it seems. We plan in our heads our future in detail but we lose focus on the stuff that makes us who we are. We ask ourselves, "What am I going to do as an adult?" or "What am I really into?" This brings so many concerns not only those who are in school, but to those who are living independently. It's such an early age to think about this when we really don't know exactly who we are.
Being a teen has been hard enough after growing up with our parents who have been doing most of the work for us. Now, we have more responsibilities with school and work with less time in our hands to find what we are interested in. We focus more on where we plan on going to school or on what we think is best for us. I remember the times where I needed to deal with these situations numerous times until I figured out who I really am. On the other hand, being an 18 year old who works two jobs and is a full-time student, I don't have the time to enjoy the things I love. Being a photographer and a musician has impacted my life so much that it hurts to not see these things go beyond their limit. Not only were these things I loved doing, but life changes and it's hard to reevaluate yourself as years go on. We always remember those times when we wanted to become a doctor, veterinarian, nurse, or even a garbage collector. We saw these jobs as an interest to us that came from our young hearts. Being an adult now has led to us being more sentimental about our surroundings as any move or change that happens. It isn't easy to accept it. Why not take some time off and discover yourself and your interests?
We all know that "adult-ing" is harder than we seemed it would be, but we should be outgoing and enjoying the time of our lives. It doesn't matter if its going to a coffee shop with the individual we love or going out to a park and sitting down with a pen and paper in hand writing your thoughts away. Both options sound good and so many others options are too. If we think about it, how many of us enjoy sitting at home watching Netflix or going out in nature with an instrument or a sheet of paper in hand? Many of us would have to say either or and possibly both. Having that amount of time to just do these things really makes us regain our focus on what we are interested in. I know we work five out of the seven days but we work for most of our lives anyway. It isn't acceptable to have us going into a sad state knowing that what we love is out there waiting for us. Remember this as you start your day: This is a new page in our life book, we create the story, we put the feelings into it through what we love, we should end it with a happy ending just the way we started.
