During my sophomore year of college, I decided to live with my best friend. Living together was one of the best experiences I've ever had, and it made us even closer. Here are some things that happen when you live with said best friend.
1. You miss each other after not seeing each other for a few hours.
You randomly hug and tackle each other because you just miss each other so much.
2. You realize that during breaks, you realize you won't be able to see each other for days, weeks, and months at a time, and it feels terrible.
It really is.
3. You share the same love for TV shows, celebrities, and bands, and watch them together all the time.
You have trouble explaining your obsessions to others.
4. You get excited over the little things together.
It could be BBQ chicken served in the caf, listening to a good song together, or seeing puppies on campus.
5. You eat together all the time.
It becomes one of your main activities. Seriously, you become surprised at how much food you can eat. A lot of your conversations revolve solely around food: when, what, and where you're going to eat. What is the caf serving? At the beginning of the semester, you plan out when you can go to your favorite restaurants, be it Panera or the best pizza place in town.
6. You cry together.
You cry over life's hardships and relationships. There's nobody that can help you pick yourself back up after the bad things in life like your best friend. You realize that your best friend is better than the guys you've had in your life.
7. You struggle in the mornings together.
You try to help each other wake up for your early morning classes despite the fact that you both are not morning people.
8. You suffer through the stress of finals together.
You procrastinate so hard together and then panic because you've spent so much time procrastinating. You go to the library together and spend half your time doing work and the other half just fooling around.
9. You go through the struggle of whether or not you should actually go the gym.
More often than not, you don't go. When you do go, you know it's only because of her.
10. You hate people together.
If someone hurts your best friend, it just makes sense not to like him or her.
11. When you come home from class, you're exhausted and ready to do nothing with your best friend.
When you come back from class, you can talk about how boring or long the class was and just decompress together.
12. You sing together all the time, and you express your love for each other in song.
Because singing is way more fun than talking most of the time.
13. You go through sleep depravation together.
You both feel the stress of not sleeping enough. You may even cause each other's sleep deprivation. You stay up late talking together and have many deep intellectual conversations.
14. You freak out about your futures together and plan how you can continue to be in each other's lives.
What are we doing after graduation? Will we still be living in the same place? How can we function as adults without each other? Why is the real world so terrifying?
15. You spend so much time together that you develop the same habits, make the same jokes, and just start saying the same things.
You become incredibly close by spending all your time together that you just start to become each other. You'll probably say and do a lot of things that make no sense together, but it's okay because that's who you are.
16. You have someone you can always borrow clothes from.
You're so used to seeing each other constantly in PJs that it's refreshing to see each other dressed up.
17. You're so close that you don't really have boundaries.
Pretty much nothing is off-limits to talk about.
18. You can be irrational.
If you're unreasonable, irrational, or selfish, she'll support you, no matter what. She may call you out on certain things, or she may completely go along with you, but either way she's there for you.
19. Fighting is the worst thing ever.
It's hard to avoid each other, and you just want to be friends again and make up.
20. You just complete each other.
Things feel so much better when you're together and you love each other like crazy. You feel weird without them. You spend so much time together that other people will ask you where the other one is sometimes. You text and snapchat each other from across the room. You feel weird doing things without each other.
College is supposed to be some of the best years of your life, and it definitely is with your best friend by your side, especially a best friend who lives with you and sees you through it all.
