Okay, guys, I'm not feeling so well this week. Whatever has been going around, I finally caught it and it has not been fun.
Coughing and sneezing, along with the need to shove fluids down you. It's been a nightmare.
When you are a college kid and you are sick, thinking about your priorities is hard. Here's how I know that is true: I almost forgot to write a piece for this website. This article is literally the first thing that came to my mind and I am not sure whether or not I've thought this thing through.
So yes, it is easy to forget about your responsibilities when you are sniffling every five seconds. I mean, who wants to work when you are sick? It's like distracted working--- it is distracted working.
Also, it can be harder to get over that cold if you do not have perfect attendance and can risk taking a few days off. If you do have perfect attendance, you can just email- in sick and catch up while you are resting, no big deal.
But, that is not the case if taking a sick day is not an option. If you have to go to class and you are sick, class seems longer.
Not only is class longer, it is also more boring and miserable. The reason that it feels that way is because not only are you sitting in an already boring and miserable class, you are also miserable in your physical discomfort.
But, it's not only you that is miserable, you are making other people around you miserable. Let me explain.
Typically, no one wants to be around you if you are coughing and sneezing. In fact, you don't want to be around anyone that is coughing and sneezing. Let alone, blowing your nose--- oh my goodness.
Now, put that basic fact on top of an hour- long lecture. You and your classmates are trying to listen to the lecture, take notes, shop online, etc. Do you really want to sit next to the person sneezing and coughing while you are trying to focus? The answer is obviously no, and they want nowhere near you either.
It's been rough for me as I am writing this article. My nose is running, I am sneezing and sniffling. I am stuffing myself with orange juice.
Since I have perfect attendance, I can take a day off of my classes. And since most of my classes are online, I have flexibility and deadlines. Now you should know that since I am sick, I would literally be focused on getting over this cold, not the work.
The point is, when you are a college kid and you are sick, you literally belong in one place, and that is your dorm room. Typically, it is best to just get some soup, take some medicine and hope for the best. However, it isn't always that easy.
