What Life With A Brother Is Really Like
Payton Cannon

“I smile because you are my brother, but I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it”. Having a little brother is honestly the best (and worst thing) to ever happen to me. I always prayed for a brother, and when I finally got one I often ask myself why I didn’t ask for a sister instead. (Just kidding, but kind of not). Although a lot of the things I say may not be “nice” like my mom would say, I am joking and they are all out of fun and games. I love my brother very much, and I think anyone out there with a brother can relate.

1.You always have someone to play with you. Even if that requires him to wear one of your dresses while you paint his nails and put make-up on him. Sorry, it's all part of the rules.

2.He will always have your back. Except when he rats you out to mom…

3.He’s definitely got the good genes. Yep, you were the one born on the short side with little to no athletic ability. While Mr. Olympic gold medalist, practically 7 feet tall got it all. At least you can dance though (but so can he *rolls eyes*)

4.He’s the baby. And you will literally lose every argument due to that fact. Every. Single. Time. The worst part? He knows it.

5.You always have someone to pick on. but he will probably tackle you to the ground.

6.Thanks to him, you are now officially the shortest person in your family. And people think you’re twins. Lovely.

7.He’s your biggest supporter. He will literally cheer you on at any event and brag that you’re his sister. Even though he will never tell you good job to your face.

8.He will watch movies with you. when you have no one else, your brother is always there

9.He will scream and dance with you. nothing beats jamming to crazy train

10.He is your own personal photographer. Wait no, my eyes are red. Take another

11.He will go on bikes to get ice cream with you at any given time.

12.You always have a cuddle buddy. He will cuddle with you and hug you whenever you are sad, and even when you’re not

13.He makes you laugh. Whether it’s at his face, or his hilarious jokes, or the hilarious stuff he does. He never fails to at least put a smile on your face.

14.He likes your cooking. Even when you kind of suck, he will never tell you that. But next time, McDonald’s please.\

15.Because you have a brother, you will always have a friend. He will never ever let you stand alone, no matter what. He will always love you, and you will always love him. (even if that’s the rules).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
