Lauren Jauregui, known for being in the girl group Fifth Harmony, has always been a big part of my life. I live for every little thing she does. Fashion, activism, music, photography, poetry. She does it all. What can't she do? She's always on the road, spreading love through music and words whether it's a short speech at a show, or tweets and blog posts. She does what she can to make sure each and every one of her fans feels comfortable and happy in their own skin. She's a great role model and I'm so glad she's around for so many girls to look up to. In recent news, a picture of her and another girl have been circulating the internet. It shows her grasping onto this girl, and another of them kissing.
There has always been constant speculation within the fandom of Lauren being queer, especially fans saying her and one of her co-members, Camila Cabello, have been together or are. Now, there's no actual proof of that pairing, but these pictures of this other girl can't be ignored. Lauren has never one-hundred-percent come out as gay, but she has always supported and has been there for the gay community whole-heartedly.
Since the picture has blown up all over, she just recently came out in a letter she wrote with Billboard, and actually addressed it to Donald Trump and his supporters. She took her privacy being invaded and used it to her advantage. In the letter, she talks about how she is a bisexual Cuban-American woman. How she feels threatened by the recent election, and how she feels she and millions of other Americans will be affected by its outcome. This article was published for everyone to see, and she's so incredibly brave for this. Lauren Jauregui is a strong woman, and so clearly clever and conscious. She used her platform to speak and educate many fans and even those who are not, to raise awareness of the dangers of being a woman, especially a gay one, with Trump in the White House. As someone who also identifies as bisexual and is also Latina, I wholeheartedly agree and am so grateful for her doing this. She's giving a voice to millions who don't have one.
