What Your Jewelry Says About You

We all have our own personal senses of style. You may label yourself as preppy, grunge, classic, or even just basic, but your closet is most likely nothing like the next girl who labels herself the same way. Your jewelry is an incredibly important part of your style because it often makes a statement about who you are, and we all know the importance of first impressions. Those statements and impressions can be good, bad, or neutral, so carefully decide what jewelry you decide to wear. Here is what your jewelry choices say about you.

Pearls. I wear red lipstick, floss after every meal, and have at least three pics on Insta captioned with Lilly Pulitzer quotes.

Cocktail rings. I am single, but that does not mean I can’t have a big fancy ring too.

Toe ring. My apartment probably reeks of incense and I only shop at Free People and vintage stores.

Statement necklaces. The rest of my outfit is really boring, but look at my necklace, everyone. Also, J’adore J. Crew.

Michael Kors watch. My parents probably love me more than yours do, and I post an #armcandy photo on Insta at least once a month.

Diamond earrings. My entire outfit costs more than your house, and I am only here for my MRS degree.

Black plastic choker. I like to think I am bringing back this trend, but you can probably find me listening to screamo, wearing all black, and despising the color pink.

Monogram necklace. I know, I am such a prep. Also, I’m having an identity crisis.

Midi rings. I am trendy and ahead of the curve even though there are tons of girls wearing the same rings from Forever 21.

Elephant jewelry. I am a member of the Grand Ole Party. Ronald Reagan is the greatest president we have ever had, and trust me when I say, “I’m always right.”

Nose ring. I went to college and disobeyed my parents, but now I think it looks kind of cute.

Lavalier. I have a guaranteed date to semi-formal, formal, and all date functions. Have fun hopping from social to social.

Make the statement of your choice. Actually, I take that back. Make your jewelry say what you want it to say. You shouldn’t let your accessories, or any material things for that matter, define you. No matter what you wear, always remember, “don’t let anyone dull your sparkle.”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
