Growing up, I was obsessed with all things Disney related. Even as I have grown up, Disney has continued to be one of my loves. More than just having cute movies and awesome theme parks, their television shows and movies have taught me so many great lessons. I have used these lessons to become the person I am today and I hold them near and dear to my heart. These are just a few of the things that Disney has taught me throughout my life so far.
1. Go after your dreams.
Disney movies have always shown me that you have to go after your passion in life, no matter how hard or unattainable it may seem. Ariel gave up her voice to find her prince, Rapunzel escaped the tower to see the lights, and Pinocchio fought his way to become a real boy. These characters and so many others taught us to reach for the stars.
2. You first impression may not always be correct.
Another thing that Disney movies taught me was that you can’t always judge a book by its cover. Sometimes it takes a little time to truly realize who someone is. Beauty figured out how kind the Beast was from spending time with him, and Anna realized that Hans was a villain after time. Disney taught me to try to get to know people instead of making a snap judgment.
3. Love is worth fighting for.
I have learned that if your truly love someone, you will go to the end of the Earth for them from watching Disney movies. True love is always worth going after. Cinderella went to the ball even though her stepmother would not approve, Pocahontas went after love even though her family would shun her, and Hercules risked losing his life to save his love Meg. These movies and many others showed me that sometimes you have to take risks to seek out the love that your deserve.
4. You can make a difference.
Through watching Disney movies, I have seen that I can do just about anything I set my mind to. It doesn’t matter who you are, you have the ability to change the world. Mulan saved China even though she was seen as a weak girl and Chicken Little saved the town from aliens even though he was seen as a lying loser. They showed that even if you aren’t seen as a leader or strong, you can still get things done.
5. You can always count on good friends
Sometimes all you need in life is some good friends to help you get through the toughest situation. I have seen so many great friendships in Disney movies. Whether it was Marlin and Dory, Woody and Buzz, Sulley and Mike Wasowski, they taught me that there is strength in numbers and how important it is to have a person in your life that you can count on.
All in all, Disney movies have made a huge difference in my life. They have taught me so many valuable lessons even from an early age. I am so thankful to have grown up as a Disney kid because it has made me who I am today.
