Among many of my adventures, my siblings were there to tag along. Here are some key signs that you grew up with siblings.
1. Something is always missing.
Whether it's your last bobby pin, clean jeans, or your favorite movie, you can guarantee that it will go "missing" eventually with the help of your siblings.
2. You know who to call.
Whether you get yourself into a situation that you can't get out of or need advice about how to deal with your parents, when you know you're about to be in trouble, your siblings are always your best bet.
3. You know who snitched on you.
We are all in a constant battle to be the favorite child. Therefore, if you do something wrong, your siblings will be the first to snitch. Nobody ever wins so why do we tattle on one another?
4. What to watch on TV is a very serious subject.
Some want to watch Disney Princess movies, others want to watch "Iron Man." Mom and Dad resolve the issue by taking away TV time altogether.
5. You had to learn hand signals.
When your parents aren't looking and you're trying to get away with something together, you have to do what you have to do.
6. Game day is a prized day.
We all scream in unison for our favorite team, However, if we have opposing teams we make sure to agitate one another when there is a loss.
7. Family reunions aren't so awkward.
You know that incident you got yourself into that the whole family knows about? Or how about the fact that you're single and the family wants another grandchild. Let's be honest, without our siblings interventions like this would be horrible, We make distractions and detours for one another to avoid the awkward confrontations,
8. You always have friends.
They've been there for you through everything and never fail to support you in your decisions, Even though you want to pull each others hair out, you won't allow anyone else to do so. We stand by one another through thick and thin and that is what really matters.
9. You've been called all of your siblings' names.
Your mom would call you by everyone's name except your own (sometimes pets were mentioned also). You also look so much alike that sometimes people mistake you for one another and never really realize it until you tell them (talk about awkward).
10. Hiding food.
If you had practice or work after school you knew your siblings would eat your favorite snacks and they would be gone by the time you got home. So the logical thing to do is stash them. Sock drawer. Closet. Under the bed. Whatever worked.
11. You learn to adapt to your surroundings.
You have to approach each sibling in a different way because their personalities are so different. Your brother loves the outdoors and Linkin Park, your older sister loves Dave Matthews and decorating, while your younger sister loves to "rap" and be crafty.
Siblings make life an entertaining and wonderful adventure. They help teach us many lessons that are worth more than words can explain. Life would be so boring and definitely less fun without my siblings.
