High school is a time in your life where you make friends that will last forever. Spending countless nights at each other’s houses, spending all the laughs and times together. Sadly, high school doesn’t last forever, and life begins.
My three best friends and I all went to different places after high school. I’m so proud of all of them but so sad that they all are so far away. Out of the four of us, I’m the only one who stayed home, in Colorado. Which is sort of okay because when they come home I can say they are coming just to see me.
Starting college, I always wanted my best friends by my side, because college is a big thing and I want to share that with them. Them not being close makes it hard. I have one friend in Arizona, one in Washington, and the other is in Texas for boot camp. We are all separated, and it’s quite honestly the saddest thing to take in.
Skype dates happen every other week. We just tell each other stories about college life, and remember stories. We still have our laughs over the phone, but nothing is the same as the way it was before. But I am so grateful that we still talk as much as we do.
When you’re so far apart from your best friends, you can’t go over late at night like you used to, or have late night ice cream dates. Even though you make new friends in college, nothing will be the same as spending time with your bff’s.
Breaks will come around, and you’ll be able to get together for a girl’s night again. We will be able to spend a few nights doing what we used to do, watching movies and eating pizza. I wish I had my buddies here with me, but every day I am so happy that we are all doing something we love, and can’t wait to hear their life stories.
