What Happened When I Let Go Of My Plans

What Happened When I Let Go Of My Plans
Metal sucks

I’ve always felt pressured to have a plan. In high school, people would ask me where I planned to go to college, if I planned to play a sport, and what I planned to study. I figured all those things out and answered the questions and believed my life would follow my little plan perfectly.

Then, I got to college. In my first semester, I realized how naive I was. I ended up not liking what I had planned to study. Then I felt lost because my life was not going as planned. I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career and I felt like I needed to figure it out right then and there. It stressed me out and broke me down. I started questioning other things, too. So many aspects of my life suffered.

Finally, I started questioning why I even made those plans. God already has a plan for us that is greater than anything we could plan for ourselves. He loves us and wants the best for us. I realized it’s okay to be lost. It’s okay to not have an answer. It's okay to ask Him for guidance. I ask and ask and ask, and I haven't gotten an answer yet, but I know His timing is perfect. I know He will offer direction and correction along the way.

Since I’ve given up my "plans," I’ve felt calmer. I know that I am being taken care of and I know that He has a plan for me. When I let go, I am letting God take control and that is so comforting. He knows us better than we could ever know ourselves. Planning every little detail of our lives can cause so much stress and make us feel like we need to be doing something to reach that goal at all times. It can lead you away from Him and take your focus to things that do not matter.

So, as I continue to stumble through this life, I will continue to ask Him for His guidance. I will continue to trust in his plan, even when I feel as if I’m in the dark and I don’t have a clue as to what He is up to. I’m ready and willing for whatever He brings.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
