What My GPA Means To Me

My GPA does not define my whole life or who I am as a person.

My GPA does not define my character. I do not believe that a number from 2.0 to a 4.0 should determine someone's intelligence and success. The more important idea is that my GPA does not define what I have done in my life or how I am as a person and who I will become in my future.

A GPA does not embody who I am as a person because everyone makes mistakes. It is best to learn from our mistakes so they do not happen again though. Nobody is perfect and neither is my GPA; I am not perfect. Realistically, my overall GPA does not measure my intelligence because I have learned many things down the road. I am a hard worker despite having lower grades than someone else. School and getting good grades are important above all, although it is not good to keep stressing on why you did not get that A on that test or a B on that homework assignment. I have had certain nights of pulling all nighters to either study or do homework. Mental health is becoming more and more important and that matters more than my grades. My family and my religion also matter just as much as my grades. Life is too short to be stressing about these certain ideas of grades. In my honest opinion, grades are not the only thing that matters. Experience, connections, internships, and passion can help a person come a long way. To me just as important as having a good GPA is having a even better or great resume. Helping out the community and helping others is a great thing to do. Volunteering and helping charities is just as good as having a good GPA.

I do not like how people brag about getting a better grade than someone else or showing off their grades. That is not a good thing to do. Everybody learns at their own pace and everyone has something else going for them. People don't need to be obsessed with caring for their grades so much. There is more to life than that. I will acknowledge down the line for my last two years of college, I will work hard to raise my overall GPA to the mid 3.0s. Unfortunately, this is how I will be remembered after college and beyond for my grade point average. It is also unfortunate that graduate schools will take my GPA as a major factor in getting accepted or getting any money whatsoever. What I really say is that I tried my best and if I got a lower grade than I expected than that's all right. My mother would always tell me that if I tried my best and really worked hard than that is all right. And I believe that is good enough for me and that it is the right way to view my GPA. My GPA is just a number or a measure, but it does not define if I will be successful or predict my future.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
