What It Feels Like to Try and Fail at a Pinterest DIY

Many of us have been there. Spending countless hours on Pinterest, the virtual pin board where users can share pictures they like and ideas that cover basically everything; Trolling through pin boards to find ideas for something to do. The experience of trying to complete a Pinterest DIY can send one into a range of emotions, and not all of these are pleasant feelings.

The first phase is ambition. You may feel a bit like this:

See a cool decoration you could try? Great. Find a link attached that actually opens a functioning website? Now we’re really getting somewhere. You find all the materials you need to embark on this creative journey and your crafty side is feeling excited. But you notice that the link you were led to shows only pictures of the steps to your wonderful creation instead of listing out the things you need to do. This is the first shortcoming in the process so far, and somehow feelings of dejection are already beginning to creep in the back of your mind, but it’s too early to give up so you begin to study these pictures. Now you probably seem a little like this:

You’ve started your project now, and you’re about halfway through until the unforeseen complicated step comes along. Whether you’ve chosen to make a desk and it seems that the person who created the example just doesn’t have gravity acting upon theirs, or you would need Martha Stewart’s skills and complete kitchen inventory to finish what you have started. You are probably really resembling this now:

No matter what you do at this point, you’re bound to get through this. If you succeed in creating a Pinterest DIY, congratulations; teach your ways to those of us who have not been so lucky. If you fail, welcome to the club.

This is not to scare away all of the people who believe in themselves and their ability to try new things that they find. Sometimes, I have tried and failed and a Pinterest DIY and sometimes I have succeeded. Find yourself a link with a great recipe and a list of fresh ingredients included, and make it for dinner. Find a simple work of art and have a craft night with your friends to copy it. The only downside of trying and failing is the temporary embarrassment from your experience, but it can soon become an entertaining story. Get online and find yourself something to create, and see if Pinterest sends you on a roller coaster of emotions too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
