What Do Libertarians Really Stand For?

It’s finally winding down to the two main candidates for the upcoming election. The sad thing is that they really don’t have much support. Trump? Clinton? No thanks. If you are part of the majority of Americans that are not in support of either candidate, you should seriously start considering doing research on a third party. Stick with your beliefs and vote for someone that you believe in. Currently, there is a third party, which has been getting increased support due to the dissatisfaction with both Democrats and Republicans. What is this party that I speak of? The Libertarians. I know there are a few of you scratching your heads and wondering what they stand for. Don’t worry, here’s a quick snapshot.

  1. People should have complete control over their lives. This being said, the government should have little to no say as to how people live their lives. People should be able to pursue their dreams, love whomever they want, and be free from fear and frustration.
  2. Privacy should be respected and the government has no business doing wire-tapping and other illegal activities.
  3. The government should have no say to people’s lives in regards to sexual orientation, gender, and gender identity when it comes to marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration, or military service.
  4. Abortion should be left up to the individual. The government should have no say in the choices of individuals.
  5. All members of society should have the opportunities to be successful economically. Libertarians strongly support free market trading and the government’s role should be extremely limited.
  6. A clean and healthy environment is something that Libertarians want to have. In the past, the government has been deplorable when it comes to protecting our environment.
  7. People should be able to keep what they make week to week. Income tax needs to be eliminated as well as the IRS. Any federal programs and services that are not required under the constitution should also be terminated. Government spending needs to be cut down to a minimum. How do you balance the budget? Less spending rather than raising taxes.
  8. On the international stage, the United States would stop being the policemen of the world. The military would still be maintained so it can defend if needed, but if something goes on in the other side of the world, we need to stay out of it.
  9. In an effort to avoid any entanglements, the US would stop all economic and military aid to any and all countries.

There’s much more to the Libertarian platform other than personal freedom and fiscal responsibility, but this is a true snapshot. Our world, our country is quickly changing and with two parties trapped in the past and so hell-bent on being different from one another, there is seriously zero hope that will come from either. However, with a strong third party run, dissatisfied Americans finally have the chance to speak out against the two-party system and say that their voices and their votes matter. Keep doing your research and look up Governor Gary Johnson. I’m certain that you will like what you find!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
