What College Students Actually Want For The Holidays
History.com

The holidays are every college student's favorite time of the year. We get a long break from school, the opportunity to be with family an friends from back home, and time to ourselves. Although we all want material things like clothes and shoes, there are other simple gifts that will make us happy.

1. Sleep.

It's been a long and hard semester of staying up till 2 A.M. then waking up at 8 A.M., with day after day filled with things to do. It's time to take a well needed rest and stop worrying about all the stresses in our lives.

2. Real Food.

At this point, eating nothing is better than the shit the dining hall serves. All we want is a nice home cooked meal from back home that we definitely took for granted before leaving for college.

3. Money.

We're all broke at this point and can't even afford public transportation anymore. Not to mention all those clothes we've been eyeing for weeks.

4. Abs.

That gym plan we came with before school was a bust and now we wish everyday for the instant perfect body we've been aiming to have for years. It's been long enough, can't we all just be hot?

5. 4.0 GPA.

Midterms and finals were a disaster, and the stresses of doing well in school continue to creep on us everyday. Better grades equals better life right? So why can't we suddenly grow a smart gene and have successful lives?

6. Significant other.

It's winter time and everybody wants a cuddle buddy. Who wants to freeze outside in the cold on the weekends when you can snuggle up with bae and watch a movie?

7. Vacation.

Too much stress from school, people, life, etc. We need a break. A long, well deserved, preferably tropical break where we can sit and do nothing all day long and just be happy.

8. Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts gift card.

Coffee is the only thing that's gotten us through the semester, but it's draining our bank accounts little by little. Can't it just be unlimited and free?

9. Free Netflix subscription.

Procrastination's best friend is too pricey, and yet we can't ever seem to let it go. All those movies and TV shows are just begging us to watch them, and with all the stress were trying to escape, there's no way we can say no.

10. Time machine to undo every mistake this semester.

Oh boy have we all made tons of mistakes so far. It would be nice to just be able to just erase them and rewrite our lives. Goodbye asshole I shouldn't have hooked up with, hello genuine guy I overlooked.

11. Job offer.

Whether it's to get money for right now to get through college, or to support ourselves for the rest of our lives afterwards, we all aim to get a job. Just so we can make money, and have a good life.

12. Free tuition.

College is expensive. None of us can actually afford this shit. Who decided life was a game of money and if you didn't have any you lose? The importance of education should be worth so much more than that.

13. Non-bipolar weather.

It was 20 degrees this morning, but then it was 42, and now it's 15. But our rooms went from 70 to 55. C'mon earth, just make up you're damn mind!

14. Puppies.

Everybody's favorite way to destress. Wouldn't it be great to have them around 24/7 to comfort you at your lowest points? We'll take 3 please.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
