Winter break is the time where many college students want to get their life together. They might want to recuperate the money they've spent by working, or they might catch up on sleep, relax, or start eating healthy again. Some students even go as far as making a list of things they want to accomplish during the break. However, in reality, many students do simply nothing. Here is a list of just some of the things college students do during winter break.

1. Binge watch Netflix

Many students initially want to do something productive but in the end, they watch Netflix until the wee hours of the morning. Netflix brings a sort of comfort and ease and that is why students like to binge watch Netflix.

2. Catch up with old friends

Although most students make new friends in college, some students still connect with old pals. They will either go get coffee or simply watch a movie and talk. Catching up with old friends almost always involves late night conversations as well.

3. Contemplate life

During the break, students may simply lay in bed and think about life. They might cry or simply be confused at why their life is the way that it is. Because college can be about finding oneself, many students feel pressured to have everything figured out. This pressure can lead them to feel frustrated and confused at their current life standing.

4. Only go to the gym once

Except for gym rats, the majority of college students will not go to the gym very often during the break. Many students will want to go to the gym every day and plan it out but because of obligations or pure laziness, they will only go to the gym once or twice during the whole break.

5. Cry about grades

There will always be that one class that did not go as expected and the grade will reflect that. Because college can be difficult, some students will not get the grades they wanted and might feel like they are "failures". Parents might also be disappointed and this leads to students feeling miserable.

6. Get a makeover

Whether it is getting a new hairdo or a new wardrobe, some college students want to to get a new look for next term. They might be tired of looking bland and basic. They might want to find a new bae and therefore will reinvent themselves.

7. Start a new hobby

For the students that don't have many plans for the break, the break can be long and boring and therefore they might pick up a new hobby. This new hobby can include reading, making youtube videos, or painting.

8. Freak out because they are on the waiting list

The majority of students sign up for winter term classes well before the break. However, some students might not have their schedule quite figured out and they might even be put on the waiting list. It can feel like the end of the world if one is not placed in the desired course.

In the end, winter break is a break from school and one can decide what one wants to do with it. One should not feel ashamed of not having a "productive" break because, in the end, it is a designated time to relax, rejuvenate, and spend time with family/friends.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
