So, you just dropped more than $50.00 on a cap and gown for graduation, too? For me, after the initial "OMG! Graduation!" set in, I started to wonder why the heck this square hat and the world's most unflattering article of clothing had to be 50-freaking-dollars. That's like 12 LITs at OCI! Completely absurd. And we are only going to wear it once!
That got me thinking of other things I can use the cap and gown for after graduation. The first suggestion would be to sell them. Do you really need them again? If you don't care, then sell those puppies! If you are someone who does care and can't throw anything away (guilty), there are a couple other things you can do to get your money's worth.
Frame your cap.
If you didn't decorate your cap, then this might be a little boring. But if you did, it could add a little extra something to your bedroom decor. The way you decorate your cap is the definition of you. It could be decorated showing your future career or thanking your parents or it could have photos with your friends. What better way to motivate yourself everyday than to see that on your wall in the morning!
Make an ornament out of your tassel.
Get a clear ornament ball and hang your tassel in it. It doesn't have to be just for Christmas either. Show that thing off year-round by hanging it on your door handle or somewhere else in your room.
Dress up your pets.
I am laughing right now thinking about a big ol' puppy in a cap and gown. Those pictures will go viral, no doubt.
Take senior pictures.
You can have some professional photos taken of you in your cap and gown around campus in your favorite places. There is no better way to remember your college years than with some quality photos.
Use the gown to dry your tears.
After graduation you will most definitely cry. Whether it's actually at the ceremony or later when you realize it's all really over. They might even be tears of joy when you realize you'll never have to write a research paper or pull an all-nighter ever again.
