What Are You Really Thankful For?
Kristin MacKenzie

"What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things you thanked God for today?" I came across that quote many years ago and it had stayed with me since. What a beautiful truth. What if tomorrow morning, you woke up with only the things you thanked God for today? What would you really have? I for one would not have much.

With October ending and November starting in a few days, it is that time of year where we are reminded of all we have in our lives to be thankful for and we reflect on all the things we have in our lives. In this season, it is easy to get swept up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. It is easy to stress over trying to make every family and work party while still trying to make time for yourself. It's easy to worry about money and buying everyone in your life the perfect present. Between waiting in line for that gift for your grandmother and reading tons of online recipes in search of the perfect hors d'oeuvre to bring to Thanksgiving dinner, take the time to truly acknowledge the things in your life that you are thankful for and I don't just mean the typical "I'm thankful for my family" kind of things. What are you truly thankful?

I'm thankful that no matter what direction and path each of my family members had taken, we all share the same roots because no matter where we go, our roots always lead us back to each other.

I'm thankful for friends that constantly believe and support me in every endeavor I take on. They restore my faith in myself on a daily basis.

I am thankful for the ability to love and for the opportunity to be loved.

I am thankful that I get to wake up every morning and truly go to a job that I love. I am thankful that I get to use my abilities every day and live out my passion.

I am thankful that God has given me the journey He has and that He continues to guide me and direct me. I am thankful that He has surrounded me with beautiful people that make the journey through life that much more enjoyable. I am thankful that He allows me to struggle and to have fears and doubts because while they may make me stumble and fall, they always make me stronger.

This holiday season, take the time to figure out what you are thankful for- what you are really thankful for. You never know when you might wake up and one of those things won't be there anymore.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
