In honor of Halloween coming up next week, I thought I’d share the random things that creep me out since pretty much everyone is afraid of spiders, rodents, etc.

Statues of Random People/Bronze Children

You may be scratching your head at this one, and I would be too without any background. Let me explain: in 3rd or 4th grade, I had a nightmare where a statue had its head kicked off by a soccer ball and then came to life to retrieve its missing body part. F-R-E-A-K-Y. I’ve been slightly creeped out by them ever since. This laughable fear also manifested itself so that I was also afraid of my American Girl Dolls at night and had to put them in my closet.

They’re just weird. I do not like even thinking about them, so I’ll just move along.

Large, Dark and Empty Rooms

This is a more typical fear, but I recently experienced being in a large, dark and empty room about two weeks ago. For those of you that go to DePauw University, you know the stories about East College being haunted. Well, my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, was celebrating our Founder’s Day one Monday evening in MeHarry Hall of East College since we were founded in that very hall (very cool). Anyway, I left my water bottle in MeHarry and had to sprint through the creaky pews completely in the dark because I couldn’t find the light switch. Thankfully I was on the phone with my mom, so I wasn’t as scared as I would normally be.

Bitmoji

This is probably the weirdest of my fears, but I find the cartoon characters completely creepy. I do not like how they look whatsoever and looking at them for too long causes a chill to go down my back.

Well, there you have it. I hope my random fears were slightly entertaining.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
