The Week Before Spring Break

One more week until freedom.

The Week Before Spring Break

It's almost that time of year again. The chilly days become a bit less and those beloved 60-degree days surprise us a little more often. You're convinced that because that cute little groundhog didn't see his shadow, spring really is upon us. Plus, you're so ready to pack up your suitcase and head home or off to some place better than school for a week straight. But wait, do you have anything to do before you leave? Perhaps you momentarily forgot about those four tests, two presentations and one essay while you were busy thinking about all the non-school-related things you'll be doing in one short week. Cool it, buddy. You're not there yet. If you're anything like me, this is you currently:

Don't worry, though. We surely aren't the only ones feeling like this. The week before spring break is a crucial time because of all the assignments that suddenly seem to appear out of nowhere, but we all know that they've been on the syllabus since the first day of classes. It's crunch time, but this week doesn't have to be all bad. This week is a learning experience for most people because it shows us that we really can do the impossible. You only have two free hours, but you have six hours of work? No problem, you somehow make it work. How? Magic, of course.

But really, during this week, everyone suddenly gets really skilled at prioritizing. The thought of not getting everything done cripples you with so much fear that you end up getting everything done. It's amazing what stress can do, am I right?

By Wednesday, we will probably start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we know not to get too excited because we still have a little longer to go. At this point, you're so dependent on caffeine and a thoroughly highlighted planner that you start to look like this:

Never fear, though. While you look like death and feel somehow even worse than that, you suddenly remember that you've knocked out three tests with only one to go. Both presentations are over, and you're typing the last paragraph of your conclusion at this exact moment. You wonder how you got to this point. Was it the two sodas every day? The lack of sleep? That pack of Gushers every hour that kept you going? Magic?! Maybe, but we won't ever truly know. Regardless, spring break is in sight, my friends.

The best part of it all, though, is that a fat nap is waiting for you at the end of this week, alongside a week of freedom. You deserve it, you magical being. Don't sell yourself short, because you are truly amazing. Now you better get excited because it's spring break!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
