Later that night, Teddy and Jackie made their way to Lisa's apartment quickly. Lisa answered before they could knock and closed the door softly behind her.
"Sarah is asleep. I'd like to keep it that way for now. Her head space isn't so clear right now with everything."
"Should I be here considering, well, you know?" Jackie asked sheepishly.
"Honestly, I don't know."
Lisa shrugged and pushed her hair out of her eyes.
"Hey, Lisa, are you doing alright? I know this time can be hard on you. You don't have to deal with all of it alone." Ted said placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"Thanks, Teddy. I'll be fine. Sarah needs more of our focus right now. I'll deal with my own problems later."
"You can't keep brushing it aside. Eventually it'll catch up with you."
"Note taken. Why don't you guys come inside while I hunt for the list that Sarah made?" Lisa said flatly.
The guys followed her inside and stood awkwardly in her living room while she made her way to the kitchen. Both of them had their hands in their jean pockets and their shoulders hunched inwards.
"You guys can sit. The couch doesn't bite."
Lisa continued rummaging through items on her table. The guys continued standing and looked around.
"This place looks so...tidy."
"I think what Jackie means is it looks lovely."
"Definitely different than the first apartment we had."
Lisa pulled a sheet of paper from the table.
"Aha!"
"Found it?"
"Yes...oh...no. This is a grocery list from Sarah. I guess I'm going to have to wake her. I can't seem to find that list anywhere."
"Yeah...I'm going to stand by the front door. You know, just in case." Jackie said edging his way over slowly.
Lisa let out a snort.
"Please, Sarah couldn't hurt a fly. Stop being such a baby."
"I think you mean, Sarah couldn't hurt a fly bare handed but she has a killer throw."
"Fine, wait by the door then. It's not like you're going to escape in time anyways."
Lisa disappeared into a room and backed out minutes after in a rush.
"I'd duck if I were you!" Lisa ducked as a flurry of pillows escaped from the door of the bedroom.
"I. Just. Wanted. To. Nap!" Sarah hurled pillows as far and hard as she could.
Her eyes scanned the room for Lisa but stopped when they saw Jackie and Teddy. She let the raised pillow drop and ran back into her room.
"Why didn't you tell me we had company? I have bed head for goodness sake's Lisa!" Sarah shouted.
"I did tell you but you started hurling pillows at my head!"
"I'm still in my pajamas!" Sarah shrieked.
"Don't worry Sarah, we've seen you wasted before. This is nothing." Jackie called out.
Jackie just had enough time to duck before a pillow hit the wall behind him. Sarah came out a moment later in a jeans and a t-shirt. Her hair was pulled back in a loose ponytail. She placed her hands on her hips impatiently and tapped on finger gently against her side.
"So, why did no one tell me we were getting the group back together?" Sarah demanded.
"Jackie and Teddy are here to help get your things. Teddy brought his truck and we can load up my car too." Lisa responded.
Sarah stared at the boys with a hard gaze for a moment. Jackie stared into the ground and scuffed his foot repeatedly.
"Look, Sarah, I just, I don't want things to be weird between..." Jackie started.
"Jackie, whatever is going down between Thomas and myself, it has nothing to do with you. Thomas chose this as his option and I've had no choice but to accept it. There's no hard feelings here." Sarah said warmly.
"Besides, how would I get along with out you and Teddy driving me bonkers all of the time?" Sarah teased.
"Hey!" Teddy exclaimed.
Jackie nudged him with his elbow.
"We do cause a lot of trouble. Remember junior year?"
"Those were all your bad ideas!"
"But you went along with them!"
