Why We All Need To Live A Little More

Don't let the stresses of life take control of your life. Before we know it, we will be looking back wishing we lived a little more.

The world we live in is filled with a lot of stress. Whether it is a failed test, a troubled relationship, or a hard day at work...everyone seems to have something in their life to complain about.

I find myself getting stressed out about the littlest, stupidest things. While at the time it may seem like the biggest problem in the world, 95% of the time it is not. Every little problem somehow takes over my mind and each time leading me to avoidable, and extremely unnessasary, stress and unhappiness.

If you can't already tell, our world has turned itself into a very stress-heavy place. Everyone is always on the go, money and materialistic things always seem to get in the way, and majority of the US is working far too many hours. Because of things like this, people find themselves stressing out about stupid, meaningless things more than just enjoying life for what it is. It seems that once one thing happens in our lives, instead of reflecting on it and enjoying what is happening in the moment, we just jump to the next thing on our list of things to do. I often find myself counting down the days until the next "exciting thing" in my life is happening next instead of just taking a moment and enjoying what is right in front of my eyes.

Realizing all of this got me thinking...

We all need to stop, take a breath, and LIVE a little more.

You may think that you are "living your best life" since you posted a cute Instagram post that looks like your having fun, or got a promotion at work so you can finally buy the next iPhone that came out...but none of that truly matters in the big picture. We need to start enjoying life for what it is...

The beautiful sunset out your window, the spontaneous coffee date with your best friend, the amazing vacation with your family, a day that's sunny and 75, a fun concert you got tickets to, or even just a simple day spent with the ones you love. Big or small, there are so many things in life we all take advantage of, all because of the unneeded stress we put on ourselves that prevents us from living our lives to the fullest potential we are given. People often push things out of their life due to stress or bad moods, when the thing you think you are "missing in life" could be right in front of you.

So, go to that party, accept that interview, go on that date, take on that challenge, go on that adventure, and stop holding back yourself from the life you were born to live and appreciate what is in front of your eyes!

I always tell myself...why stress out about all the little things in life when we were put on this earth for one reason only...to live! God made all of us and put us on this earth to do one thing...to LIVE for Him! So why cut yourself short?

Each day has so much to offer and so much potential, but a lot of us (including myself) don't grasp on to the big picture at times. The stresses of life of course will still be present, but that does not mean you should let it take over your life. So stop letting little things (that probably won't matter in 5 years...) get in the way of living your life in the moment. Life is so short, and there are so many bigger problems in the world. So many people wish they had the life that you are complaining and stressing over. Don't waste another second of your life being unhappy, and start living a little more.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
