Tea party Republicans are threatening the Special Prosecutor in charge of the Russia investigation. Back in July of this year, Robert Mueller dismissed a FBI official that was working on the team. At the time it was said he was dismissed because he was having an affair with another FBI agent. Just recently, the text messages between these two were released. They appeared to show tremendous bias for Hillary Clinton.
Because these messages are very anti-Trump, the Tea party Republicans are now convinced that the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians is biased. The party that used to pride themselves on being the "patriotic" party, is now demeaning the Department of Justice and the FBI. Claiming that the FBI is in "tatters," as Trump recently tweeted, is undermining every single agent who are putting their lives on the line to protect this nation. This doesn't bode well for someone who said he would be the "Law and Order" president.
Also another phrase we haven't heard since Nixon. Republicans are attempting to make the case for Robert Mueller’s removal. This is not only frightening, it would cause a constitutional crisis. The country hasn't seen one in nearly 40 years. The last time was when President Nixon fired the prosecutor looking into his crimes. Mueller was appointed to be the Director of the FBI by a Republican President. He is a registered Republican. When he graduated from college, he volunteered to go to Vietnam to protect this country. He has been praised by Republicans and Democrats alike. He was praised by Republicans when he was first appointed to his current position, and now they are dragging his name through the mud.
Robert Mueller is getting close to Trump. So close it is starting to scare his Republican supporters. They are not afraid for Trump, they are mainly afraid that their closeness to Trump will affect whether or not they are re-elected. Besides that, they know this investigation is getting in their way of passing legislation. Trump has been in office for nearly a year and there hasn’t been one major piece of legislation passed. It seems all the Republicans know how to do is to stop things from happening.
This investigation and Robert Mueller are the only ones we have to hold Trump and his campaign accountable for what they did during this past election. The Deputy Attorney General has stated that he would not fire Mueller, however he did help fire James Comey, and Trump could just fire the Deputy and then hire someone who would fire Mueller. We need to keep our eyes and ears open. Call your Senators and Representatives and let them know that you stand behind Mueller, and if he is removed they need to do something about it. Resist.
