I want to start off this article with a simple (well, that's up to you) question. We've all been exposed to the Harry Potter world somehow, we either read the books, saw the films or both, and lately I've been wondering something. Would the Harry Potter series been as successful as they are if they protagonist would've been a girl? Like Hermione. "Hermione Granger And The Philosopher's Stone", "Hermione Granger And The Chamber Of The Secrets", etc. I like the sound of it, do you? To be fair if Hermione would've been the protagonist the series would've ended way faster. Hermione was always a step ahead.
We need Hermione Grangers in our world. It's not about being perfect or being super smart, it's all about being true to who you really are. Perhaps she was a bit annoying to Harry and Ron at the start but throughout the series we come to love her just like Harry and Ron do.
Hermione is a heroine even if she is not the protagonist. We love her even if she is annoying, we love her no matter what. We have to thank Emma Watson for bringing her to life and doing an amazing job with her. It would've been a different story with a different actress. Thank you Emma.
We need to be independent like her. We need to know we can do anything if we put our minds to it and it's okay if we sometimes need others to lean on to. We need to be smart enough to know how much we are worth and that nobody has the right to try to bring us down. We need to help our friends until the very end because they are the ones that make the journey of life worth living. We need to know that sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the people we love.
We also need to know that sometimes we have to move on without looking back even if we feel it might kill us. We need to be strong.
Don't be a damsel in distress, that's boring and so last century. Be there in the action fighting and winning battles. You can't just sit back and wait for a prince to come get you, why don't you save the prince? That's definitely what Hermione would do. She would find him even before he started looking for her. Remember she is always a step ahead.
Be fearless and embrace your flaws because at the end of the day our flaws make us who we are.
Next time you are in trouble or confused ask yourself; "What Would Hermione Do?"
