Fall is one of the most wonderful times of the year. You have friends, food, family, and football. But most importantly you have all of the wonderful holidays that follow with the months. Personally, I love Thanksgiving, and everyone else I know does too. If you aren't quite convinced, here's ten reasons why we all love Thanksgiving.
1. You Finally Have a Break from School
Finally, we have a few days off of school to not worry about the stress of finals approaching, and to just relax and hang out.
2. You Get to See Your Family
There's nothing better than coming home to the welcoming arms of your loving family. You get to get together with your extended family, and remember how thankful you truly are to see each and every one of them (even if you can't stand that one crazy aunt, come on, we all have one).
3. Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
I don't know about y'all, but I LOVE the parade. It doesn't matter how old or young you are, it's always entertaining to watch and it simply brightens the mood of the day with the festivities to follow.
4. Football
Thanksgiving means there's always some great football game on (even if it is the Cowboys), and an awesome halftime performance to follow. This also allows for a break from talking to your relatives about how "great" you're doing in school.
5. FOOD!!!!!!!!!
Don't worry, I didn't forget ... but most importantly, FOOD. You get to stuff your face with anything and everything in your way, and not be judged! You mentally prepare yourself for how much you're going to eat, and challenge others to how many plates you can get without actually getting sick.
6. PIE!!!!!!!
I'm sorry but pie is so great that it needed its own number. I love pie. Pumpkin, pecan, apple, lemon meringue, etc. Pie is so great, and I look forward to eating a piece of each kind during Thanksgiving.
7. A Reason to Blame Weight Gain
We can blame our weight gain (whether it's freshman, sophomore, junior or senior 15) on the simple fact that it is the holidays. It's a perfect excuse, am I right or am I right?
8. Leftovers for DAYS
There are always so many leftovers that you can enjoy Thanksgiving for days to come. And if you're lucky, your family will feel sorry for you and send some home with you back to college (fingers crossed!!!).
9. School is ALMOST Done
You know that when you make that dreaded journey back to school, you're almost done and winter break is just around the corner! You go back with happy tummies, a full heart, and the satisfaction of knowing that you're about to be done with the dreaded semester.
10. You Realize How Thankful You Truly Are
I know we should all be thankful 365 days a year and realize how blessed we are. But, there's just something about Thanksgiving that reminds us how lucky we are to have such great friends and family, to have a roof over our head, clothes to wear, and food to eat.
So here's to Thanksgiving this year. Count your blessings. Eat as much as you possibly can, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
