Finals week... It is running towards us. I say run because the days will not slow down! What happens during finals week is that we all get stressed out. We cram everything we can in the small amount of memory that we have, just to forget it the second the exam leaves your desk and is in your professor's hand. Any tips on how we can make finals week fun? Yes!
Study with a group of friends
You all can be studying something completely different! The fun part is that you are doing it together. It could also help memory when something is memorable. For example, you're studying something for your Spanish exam, then your best friend does something embarrassing and you remember the Spanish notes because that thought will creep into your mind during the exam. You will also be that girl everyone thinks broke cause you're giggling at your exam.
Dance it out
I find that when I get stressed I listen to my favorite songs and jam! You can only do so much studying before you lose your concentration and you just want to cry. Put on some Bobby McFerrin and don't worry, get happy!
Do your favorite de-stressor
I know a lot of people get stressed out this week. So much so they consider just going into these exams blind. Don't do that. Pick your favorite thing to do that releases your stress. It could be baking, drawing, reading a fun book, or napping. Napping is great!
Set up goals
Before you start studying, plan something out for after finals week so you have something to look forward to. You can plan a dinner out with your friends and say if we all study a certain amount of hours for each exam, you can go somewhere fun like Hibachi. Then you can treat yourself to some steak and chicken and eat all the rice you can get! Or, if you're on a budget, you and your friends can plan to have a movie night as a celebration.
Take breaks
Whatever you do, you need to take a break. Studying 24 hours a day until an exam is simply not healthy. Stress takes a toll on your physical and mental health, and you are not doing yourself any favors by pushing yourself that far. You could study for an hour and take a thirty-minute break, doing anything. Watch an episode of your favorite show, look up motivation quotes. Do anything your heart your desires! Just take breaks and give yourself a chance to breathe.
