As someone who has dealt with various stressors throughout her life, I have learned it is easier to face your stress head-on than avoid it. I have found that a lot of my friends come to me when they are stressed or anxious, and they ask me how to fix it. I had severe anxiety in the beginning of my high school years, but through experience I learned what helps and what doesn't. Stress and anxiety often go hand-in-hand and when severe, can consume your entire life. Here are some ways to combat your stress and anxiety while living life to the fullest.
1. Figure out the source of your stress
Whether it is an exam, a fight with your parents, a toxic relationship, or a busy schedule, you should identify the source of your stress and ask yourself why this source is particularly stressful or anxiety-inducing. Then, you can better understand why you are feeling this way while recognizing your feelings.
2. Confront the stress head-on
For example, if you are stressed about a test, study. If you are in a toxic relationship, end it. If you had a fight with a parent, apologize. Confronting the source of your stress then combating it often will take away the stress.
3. If the stress or anxiety has no source, see a mental health professional
Even just talking about your problems and feelings can significantly help. Mental health professionals can provide coping mechanisms and other ways to deal with stress and anxiety. If you do not feel comfortable seeing a therapist or do not have the resources to do so, tell a friend or family member.
4. If you have confronted your stressor and still do not feel any different, find an outlet

Exercising releases endorphins which can induce positive feelings. Reading a book, listening to music, taking a bath, or even just watching your favorite show on Netflix can all make you feel more relaxed. Taking some time away from thinking about your stress to relax will most certainly help you feel better.
Everyone in their life has experienced some kind of stress of anxiety. Even though it is a part of life, feeling stressed or anxious can be miserable. Remember that these feelings are temporary and can be helped. Whether it is going for a run, seeing a therapist, or just confronting that stress head-on, there is always a way to cope with stress and anxiety. Life is too short to spend your time stressing, so remember to stay positive and don't sweat the small stuff.
