Do you really just want to binge watch Netflix all break?
This time has finally arrived, winter break! It was a long last few weeks but finally you made it through finals! After multiple sleepless nights, and endless hours of studying it may sound tempting to just curl up in bed while binge watching Netflix all break, but resist the urge. Sure we all need some time to relax and take it easy before hitting the books again in spring semester, but make sure winter break doesn't slip by! Here are a few ideas on how to make your winter break productive and still relax at the same time!
1. Apply for scholarships or internships.
Winter break is the perfect time to get a head start on any scholarships or internships you are looking at, and without school work stressing you out, you can give your full attention to these.
2. Volunteer.
The holidays are a great time to give to those who are in need, and it can make you feel great at the same time!
3. Clean out your closet.
You know which one I'm talking about. The one that is full to the top of random crap that no one ever uses. Clean it out before the new year so you can feel great by the time 2016 rolls in!
4. Make a list of New Year resolutions.
And stick with it this year in 2016! Instead of making tons of unreachable goals, make two or three goals that you can complete and feel great about yourself this year!
5. Exercise.
It can be so tempting to just lay in bed and watch Netflix all break, but resist it! At the end of break you will end up feeling worse than before. Instead do some exercising for at least 30 minutes a day to get ready for your spring break bod!
6. Spend time with family.
Sure all of your friends will want to hangout, but make sure to squeeze some family time into break.
7. Get a part time job.
Whether it's babysitting the neighbors kids, or just taking care of a pet, a little extra cash for break never hurts.
8. Make a budget for second semester.
Speaking of money, maybe you are like me and spent a little too much money on coffee during first semester. So make a budget to help you save money for this last semester!
9. Take a Winterim class.
Winterim classes are great to get some extra credits, and you can take them online or on campus. Classes over break give you a step up and help get you get ahead of the game.
10. Learn a new skill.
Try something new and fun over winter break! Take up a new hobby that you've never tried whether it's something outside like skating or snowboarding, or learning a new craft like knitting or sewing!
11. Spend time outside.
After spending hours in the library studying and breathing in the stale air, take some time to spend outside and breathe in the fresh air! Just make sure to dress appropriately!
12. Relax.
You worked your best and survived the first semester and you're already half-way there! Now remember to take some time to relax and recharge before going to kick Spring Semester's butt!
