Ways To Keep In Touch With Your Sisters This Summer

Everyone gets excited for summer right around the beginning of April when it starts warming up at school, and students are in the home-stretch of their busiest academic weeks. We start to daydream about the days of beaches, tans, going back to work, our home bed, BBQs and our pets. This is always the case, and just like this, every year without fail, three weeks into summer, we are all saying how we want to be back at school because we miss our friends. A 3-month break is a long time, and it can get difficult to maintain relationships with the people you spend every single day with back at school. This is especially true when it comes to your sorority and your hundred or so sisters! It's easy to lose touch with your sisterhood when distance is involved.

Worry no more. Here are some tips to keeping in touch with your best friends and beloved sisters so that you don't miss each other too much.

1. Plan Sisterhood Events: Who said you couldn't have sisterhood events in the summer? Plan a beach day or a shopping-in-the-city day a few weeks in advance, so that everyone can take off work and make the drive. It would be so much more enjoyable and better than having a 10-way Skype-chat! You won't even realize how excited you are to see each other after weeks of being apart until you actually do and attack each other with hugs! There is so much more free-time in the summer than during the semester, so why not have even MORE hang-outs?

2. Work together: Most college students have no summer plans when it comes to mid-April, and then they scramble to find a job in order to make some money over the break. Most places hire more people in the summer, such as restaurants at the beach or summer camps. If you have a sister looking for a job and you live relatively close to each other, tell her to apply! As long as you know she will work hard and be dedicated, it will be great for the both of you. You will be able to earn cash and spend time with your bestie all at once and what could be better than that?

3. Get a head start on philanthropy events for Fall: We all know when a philanthropy event is put together the week of, everyone is rushed and flustered when the day comes to raise that money! Use the summertime to plan philanthropy events in advance so you have less work to do in the fall! Planning events with your sisters over video-chat or group chats is a great time to catch up, bond and remember why you guys are part of your sorority in the first place! Plus it'll make fall semester a little less hectic and you will be happy you did the work in advance.

4. Take road-trips to each other: I know in my sorority, a lot of my sisters live throughout the range of north to south on the map of New Jersey. Plan a road-trip and pick sisters up along the way! Final destination is whomever's house is last on the list! It'll be time to bond in the car and then have fun all together when you reach the end of the drive! Plus it will save a lot of money and gas driving in one car rather than all driving separately from different destinations!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
