Sometimes being out and about with friends can cause a person anxiety to flare up. Some people get quiet but others need different ways to cope with this feeling. Being in public situations for too long can cause the anxiety to be worse or even before going out it can show up. You could know these people your whole life and it wouldn't matter, you could still feel anxious about going out. Its not something you can help but you can prevent or distract yourself when you feel it coming on.
1) Don't Get Ready Too Early
I know from experience that if you get ready with like an hour or so to spare, the waiting and anticipation can cause anxiety to show up. In order to prevent this, start getting ready an hour before the planned time of the hangout. This way you're ready with time to spare but not too much time. It's the perfect way to prevent anxiety before the hangout.
2) Essential Oils
Essential oils is aroma therapy and it has worked very well for me in the past. If you put some on before you go out and take some with you when you leave, you will feel quite relaxed. If you put it on your fingers too, you can smell it discreetly when you start feeling your anxiety coming.
3) Stick With The Person

4) Take Bubble Wrap To Distract Yourself
Sometimes we just need something to distract ourselves when we get anxious. Bubble wrap is a perfect way to do so. Popping it helps reduce muscle tension which can help reduce stress and anxiety. Plus everyone loves to pop bubble wrap!
5) Just Take A Few Deep Breaths
The ultimate way to make the anxiety go away is to close your eyes and take deep breaths. It slows down your heart rate and calms your nerves. It is also a great way to group yourself.
6) Ground Yourself With Your Five Senses
This is a method I have heard from many different people. You have to find something for all five senses. Fin something to taste, touch, smell, hear, and see. Its a way to ground yourself and calm yourself so that the anxiety feeling fades away.
Now there are probably so many more ways to relax yourself. It all depends what works for you because everyone is different and you'll have to find what works for you. But always remember that if you're feeling too anxious you don't have to go out.
