Water is a known universal solvent, the principal solvent upon which solute dissolve and travel. Its importance cannot be overemphasised and its composition in our body system is 70%. Daily, water is taken to give our organs its buoyancy property but on the converse giving water to an accident victim might damage the organ it intends to care for. Yes, that might be a bit surprising to you but the truth must be said. Ever been to an accident scene, you could observe that 30% of the victims demand for water which when given to them could hasten their death.

Some of the reasons why water is denied from accident victims are

1. When water is ingested by a causality with internal bleeding, it tends to push the water into delicate organs that should be devoid of water such as the lungs we could cause choking and eventually death of the individual.

2.a. In cases of external bleeding, it tends to mope off the remaining blood by increasing blood flow thereby leading to death

b. It also cools down the blood by reducing its circulation which could also cause the death of the individual

C. Should it be that the victim is to be injected with anaesthetic which requires " stay off from liquid or solid for at least four hours before administration," it could pose some challenges for health practitioners to administer the appropriate treatments.

The best remedy and treatment for an accident victim is at the hospital. With the above reasons, you could see the reasons why accident victims are denied of water.
