Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday, and it often is overshadowed by Christmas. If you want to get into the spirit of Thanksgiving and all that comes with it - friends, family, and food, then here's a few movies and tv show episodes that I love to watch during this time of year.
1. Meet the Parents (2000)
Family gatherings aren't always the most perfect occasions, and this movie definitely gets that. Nothing like an eccentric family, Ben Stiller, a know-it-all cat, and setting the backyard on fire.
2. Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
What more can I say? Steve Martin trying to get home for Thanksgiving with the help of John Candy is bound to make you laugh, cry, and question why John Candy was getting on a plane in the first place if he had no family to go to.
3. Bob's Burgers "An Indecent Thanksgiving Day Proposal"
This isn't a movie, but it's still one of my favorites. The upside, it's only twenty minutes, so you can definitely squeeze it in. Even if you're not a Bob's Burgers fan you're bound to enjoy Bob drunk on absinthe talking to the turkey he's cooking while his wife and children pretend to have a different father.
4. That 70's Show, "Thanksgiving"
Another great tv show episode - Eric Forman trying to get in the pants of his sister's friend that she brings home for Thanksgiving - but still has feelings for Donna. Don't worry, the conflict is again resolved in under twenty minutes, with lots of laughs in between.
5. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
This movie is a classic and one of my favorites. It's super corny and cheesy, but nothing brings the spirit to a holiday more than an old, blurry cartoon of Snoopy making a turkey.
No matter who you watch these with - your family, your friends, your dog, or yourself, it's bound to get you in the mood to be grateful for the things you have. Have a good break!
