It's no secret that Imperative Entertainment purged Kevin Spacey from the movie, 'All The Money in The World,' after multiple allegations of unwanted sexual advances were reported about him last year. Director Ridley Scott replaced Spacey with Christopher Plummer and, in one week, re-filmed all of the scenes involving him before the film came out on December 25th.
Although the quick turn around in filming was impressive, for staff and actors alike, the movie has recently come under criticism for the pay problem thats come to light. It's been reported that, while Michelle Williams came back to reshoot the required scenes for $80 per diem (totaling less than $1000), Mark Wahlberg wasn't as benevolent with his time. Entertainment weekly reported that, while the rest of the cast came back and "did it for nothing," Wahlberg renegotiated for a $1.5 million payout.
It's argued that Michelle, and others, offered to work without renegotiating, however the point still stands that, for the sake of equality, appearances, or even kindness, they could've at least told her about the astronomical gap in pay. I mean, I may have reconsidered after seeing how high they would go for Mark Wahlberg!
With everything thats going on in Hollywood, this sparked new fervor about gender inequality. When you look at the math, Michelle was payed less than 1% than her male counterpart, and men and women alike are outraged by the gap in pay.
