Hi, I’m Samantha. Music fanatic, small town band lover, and merch girl at heart. Thanks to the power of music, I’m here to help you find the perfect songs to add to your playlists. If you have any playlist topic requests, comment below the article! You could see your request next week!

Everyone has those days where they just need a pick me up. This playlist will make you feel happy again. Take a deep breath, put on some headphones, and shut the world out, at least for now.

1. "I Want to Get Better" by Bleachers

The title kind of says it all. I want to get better. I want to feel happy again, not sad. It’s hard to not bob your head and sing along. We all have our rough days, but we can always make the next day better and brighter.

2. "Beautiful Day" by U2

This is a classic song that makes you appreciate what you have. It is a beautiful day after all. You’re alive, right? You can see the world outside and, more often than not, it’s beautiful.

3. "Who Says" by Selena Gomez & The Scene

Who says you’re not perfect? I think you are. This upbeat song has me singing along and thinking Selena is so right. I can do anything, be anything, do anything.

4. "Dreaming" by Smallpools

I was introduced to this song last year, and the music and beats are so catchy! I always dance when this song plays.

5. "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind

Come on, you know it and love it. This song has been around for almost 20 years. Crank the music up and jam out to this nostalgic tune.

6. "At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used to Be)" by Fun.

You won’t be as sad as you used to be after you listen to this song. (See what I did there?)

7. "Island in the Sun" by Weezer

This one always makes me feel like I’m in paradise. Sit back, close your eyes, and feel the warm sand and sun around you.

8. "Out of My League" by Fitz and the Tantrums

The beat of this song may get you out of your seat. Be prepared to dance around your room.

9. "Different Colors" by Walk The Moon

We’re all different colors whether in personality or skin color, so crank the dial to the right and forget about taking sides.

10. "I’m Ready" by AJR

Are you ready? For all of you Spongebob lovers, here’s a song that will get you ready for anything!

11. "Song of the Sparrow" by SayWeCanFly

This song will get you smiling. It may seem a little down, but keep listening. The music will bring you up.

12. "Cecilia and the Satellite" by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

For all the things my eyes have seen, the best by far is you. I’ll keep you safe, I’ll keep you dry. Don’t be afraid, Cecilia, I’m the satellite and you’re the sky.

13. "I’ll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts

Who doesn’t love Friends? If you’ve heard this song at least once before, you’ll be clapping to it. Can’t resist.

14. "I’m Yours" by Jason Mraz

Making sure we know we’re loved since 2008. Kick back to this song and remember that Jason Mraz will always be yours.

15. "Only Love" by Ben Howard

Most of Ben Howard’s music makes me happy thanks to a friend introducing me to him in 2014. Here's one of his songs that I picked out for you. I love how his music sounds more acoustic than what you normally hear on the radio.

16. "Chocolate" by the 1979

You have to admit this song is catchy. I love singing “petticoats” in their accent. They remind you not to quit! Keep on doing you!

17. "Brighter" by Patent Pending

This song is so important. The light at the end is brighter than it used to be. This song is so encouraging and tells you to never ever give up. After speaking with Joe Ragosta, singer of Patent Pending, he had a few words about this song:

Our song "Brighter" is a reminder that no matter how down and out you may feel at any given moment, you need to keep looking at the positive side of things. Life is full of ups and downs, and it's very easy to get stuck living a life that doesn't fulfill you and make you happy. It's important to remember that deep down we all have the courage to make big changes in our lives, so we can start living the lives we want to live.

18. "Hymn For The Weekend" (Seeb Remix) by Coldplay

Listen to this with the volume up, forget about your troubles, and remember that this weekend will bring a fresh start.

19. "Kill Em With Kindness" by Selena Gomez

The world can be a nasty place, you know it, I know it. No matter what people are saying to you, just kill ‘em with kindness. Be the better person, you’ll be rewarded in the end.

20. "Fireflies" by Owl City

This song has made me happy since 2009, and I hope it makes you happy too. I know you know the lyrics, come on, sing with me! Click that video!

I asked some of my friends for suggestions. Let's hear what makes other people happy!

21. "Happy" by Pharrell Williams

“It has happy in the title and is an upbeat song. Sometimes all I need is someone who is happy around me to brighten my mood.”

22. "Tears in Heaven" (Acoustic Version) by Eric Clapton

“It’s a simple, light-hearted song with few instruments.”

23. "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars

“It makes me want to dance.”

24. "Don’t Worry, Be Happy" by Bob Marley

“Whenever I was sad when I was little, the singing green fish would always cheer me up.” (Click the video, it’ll make you smile!)

25. "Downtown" by Macklemore (explicit)

“Oh my God, I just love this song!”

26. "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins

“It makes me feel like I’m driving through California with the windows down without a care in the world. To me, it’s about being different, but living like you’re restless and making the most of it.”

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
