Today is a new day. You are breathing, you are smiling, and you are happy. If you think you shouldn't be happy, then you are sadly mistaken. You see, you were given this amazing life. This life that was made just for you. There is no one in this entire world who has the same life as you. You are unique, strong and beautiful. How is that something to be unhappy about?
In light of recent events, the world has become a scary place to be happy in. It seems that if we smile or laugh at something that makes us happy, we are going to be judged for it. This is certainly not what the world was created to be, and it's certainly not what was intended for your life. We need to spend less time worrying and more time smiling. Besides, isn't that what life is supposed to be about?
We should be going outside and getting a sunburn that hurts for days. We should be going out with our friends and drinking a little more than we should. We should be going after the guy or girl we like and not caring about what tomorrow may bring. We need to start living in the moment. We need to start waking up each and every morning and telling ourselves that we are going to do something today that will make our future self proud.
I'm not saying to go out and win a Nobel Peace Prize (although that would be nice). What I'm saying, though, is to live your life with no regrets. Don't wake up the next morning and think about all the "should haves" that could've happened. Don't think about how the night would've gone differently if you did what your heart wanted. Your life is too short and too precious to not be lived fully.
Every day, we see tragedy and loss. We are firsthand witnesses to how life can be here one moment and taken away the next. We have lost loved ones that we never thought would leave our side. We have had our hearts broken into a million pieces and have wondered if they would ever be put back together. But would you change any of it?
I hate to say it, but all this heartbreak and loss that you have felt in your life has made you into the strong and beautiful person you are today. The person that wakes up each morning breathing. The person that was given this life in order to do something remarkable and extraordinary. We all have dreams, we all have hopes, and we all have desires. What is stopping you from achieving yours?
Today is a new day, and you are off and away. You only have 24 hours—that's 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds to make the most of this day you have been given. What are you going to do with it?
