This movie was a major concern with people that I have come across in my lifetime.
As I have grown, "Harry Potter" has taken on a new role in my adult life. I never wanted to cave to the regular standards of what was in or trending. But when the "Harry Potter" series came out I cannot lie, I was drawn to it. Now that I am in my twenties, I thought I would sit down and watch it--and I am glad I waited this long. I've learned some valuable lessons watching it now; things my younger self wouldn't have appreciated as much as I do now.
Being in your 20s is a lot like starting your first year at Hogwarts.
As we move into our adulthood, our inner-child seems to slowly fade, but who's to say our thoughts, desires, goals and dreams have changed? I know mine haven't. We try to hold onto what we can and just hope that we will reach our dream careers; you see, college is a lot like having the sorting hat decide for us our places. We still hope and dream as we get older, and I think that is why we are drawn to things like "Harry Potter." It is full of all the adventure we notice immediately that we need in our own lives. Through the eyes of Harry, Hermione and Ron, we can see that struggles are a part of life. Tragedy can take its toll on your life, but there may be a vault of galleons around the corner. We still have to deal with people who take on the form of trolls; we deal with the constant pull of mysterious herbs and potions, confused love interests, but most importantly, the friends you make in your twenties are life-long individuals that become your family. Yet, we know this stage of life will fly by just as the last decade has already hidden itself. One of the many things "Harry Potter" has taught adults is how to understand emotions and feel them very deeply.
There is still magic and big magic in each of us.
"Harry Potter" has changed my adult life by showing that there is magic and big magic in each of us. You and I can choose our destiny. I say choose because we are our biggest cheerleaders and our biggest enemies. We have a say--we aren't robots. What is the big magic? It is the power to create, the power to love, the power to hate, the power to make dreams come true. There are beautifully handcrafted gems in each of us. It also taught me the importance of protecting yourself, desires, and dreams. Those around you may seem to support you, but actually mean to harm and destroy you. On the flip-side, there are also people around us that may not seem that they are for us, but, in essence, they are primarily good.
Things like "Harry Potter" can inspire and change the way we view our own circumstances. If anything, remember this--"Don't forget to turn on the lights."
