I genuinely couldn't imagine my childhood without the classic book/movie saga of "Harry Potter." Throughout seven books and eight movies, we have grown with Harry, Hermoine, Ron and all the characters that they represent. Not only do I look back at my Harry Potter-enriched childhood and remember how I dreamed of being a Hogwarts student, but I realized that these mystical stories, only shaped my childhood in an extremely positive way.

Here are 10 reasons why Harry Potter's stories are important to grow up with:

1. It emphasizes the value of intelligence and being a good student.

Since the very first story of Harry, Hermoine, and Ron, it's obvious that most of the main characters are excited to be in a good house within Hogwarts, and that getting a great education in magic and other academics is really important. That sort of influence on kids of all ages can be truly profound.

2. It shows the importance genuine relationships.

No matter the circumstance Harry, Ron, Hermoine and the other relationships made along the way, were crucial to surviving their years spent at Hogwarts. Whether it be with their teachers, friends, parents, or mentors, it shows the value of having relationships with people who really care about you.

3. And also what it means to be a real friend.

While Harry, Ron and Hermoine's trio of a friendship often seemed amazing, they learned throughout their series of adventures that in order to have great friends, you must also be a great friend.

4. It teaches the importance of having good character/a moral compass.

In today's society, being a bad*ss is over-glorified. There's always something to be said about doing the right thing, and our favorite characters in "Harry Potter" are most always striving to do so.

5. It sheds light on the worth of simple principles.

Whether it be taught by Dumbledore, Hagrid or Professor McGonagall (among others), there are so many important fundamentals that are portrayed effectively in these stories. Simple principles such as what is right and what is wrong and what the wise thing to do is versus what may be your initial response when dealing with tricky situations, are always exemplified adequately.

6. We are always being taught great life advice that is easily applicable (even to muggles).

Don't lie, if you are a true Harry Potter fan, Dumbledore has definitely been there for you when you needed some magical words of wisdom.

7. Even in the toughest of battles, brains can out-perform brawn.

Hermoine was one great example of a character who used her brains to outsmart evil. Well, most of time...

8. It shows why one should never judge a book by its cover.

Nevil Longbottom. That's all I have to say.

9. And that there are always people looking out for you even when you don't realize.

Before Harry's wizarding adventures began, he thought he was hopeless and left to rot with the Dursley's, little did he know he had a team of witches and wizards that would forever be his protectors. Between Hagrid, Dumbledore, Sirius, and even Snape, someone was always looking after Harry especially when he didn't realize it.

10. At the end of the day, good always overcomes evil.

After eight movies and seven books, we can truly believe that the good guy always wins, even when it seems impossible.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
