This week at Link Year we learned about the 7 Pillars that LY is founded upon. We had several of the leadership members here come and teach us about the different pillars. The different 7 Pillars are biblical worldview, maximizing moments, privilege responsibility, heart transformation, student of scripture, authentic accountability, and growing in gratefulness. LY believes that these 7 Pillars are an essential part of our Christian foundation. I am definitely really excited to learn more about what it looks like to live out and grow in all of the pillars, however I am especially excited to grow in two particular areas: authentic accountability and student of scripture.
1. Authentic Accountability
Authentic accountability
is about having someone in your life that cares more about your soul than your
friendship. Luke 17:3 says, “So watch yourselves. "If your brother or sister sins
against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.” As brothers or
sisters in Christ we are called to confront others when we have a problem with
them or something they have done to us. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron
sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Accountability
is also about finding people who sharpen you, push you towards Christ, and
point you to His truth. I have never really had accountability in my life,
other than my parents, so I am really excited to see what that looks life for me and how that is going to transform me!
2. Student of Scripture
Being a student of scripture is about continuously learning and studying different things about the Bible. We learned that the context of scripture changes everything and that sometimes the original language the text was written in changes everything. Joshua 1:8 says, "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." The Lord calls us to not only read His word, but meditate on it and really take to heart what it says. In doing that, we are also called to live out our faith by our actions. James 2:14, 26 says, "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? [...] As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead." We are also called to hide the word of God in our hearts so that we may not sin against Him as it says in Psalm 119:11. I am really eager to put into practice that last verse; this semester my mentor and I are going to memorize the book of James, one of my favorite books of the Bible. I could not be more ecstatic to see how the Lord will use this in my life, and to see what it looks like to memorize a whole book of the Bible (something I've never done before).
Thanks for reading about my week :) I would really appreciate some prayers about just relying on the Lord in times of stress and worry. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
