Wait Patiently, Beautiful

You are being chased by the best man to ever walk the earth: Jesus.

So many times throughout my life, I spent the majority of the time searching. "Searching for what?" You might ask. Searching for love. It wasn't until I was a freshman in college that I experienced what I felt like was "true love" (at the time). But still I could hear a still small voice in my head saying, "Wait patiently, beautiful."

I see girls all through my timeline who drive themselves to believe, "If I just had someone to care for me," or, "If I just had someone to take me here." I can see it now. They're sitting in their rooms while all of their friends are out doing God knows what asking themselves, "Why me? Why am I the one sitting in my room alone not drinking, not partying, not being promiscuous, but still alone?" I've been there. We think we are being punished by not being promoted to "girlfriend material" because we aren't constantly being chased by a man. But you are. You are being chased by the best man to ever walk the earth: Jesus.

Wait patiently, beautiful. The Lord, your God, Jehovah Jireh, will provide for you. He has not forgotten you. A matter of fact, you never leave his mind. Neither does the man he has hand picked for you. But before he allows the man he has molded for you to come into your life, he needs you to be his. Fully his. He needs you to surrender to His unconditional love and His plans for your future.

Psalm 33:20-22 says, "Our soul waits for the Lord who is our help and our shield. May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in you." I believe, to obtain the extravagant future the Lord has promised us, we have to realize that even when He makes us wait, he is still faithful. Think of a time when God has failed you? You can't. So why are you worrying about something that has already been taken care of by the master.

We have all heard of the term "Mr. Right Now" and more than likely, we have all dated him. Have you noticed that very seldom this guy sticks around? Have you also noticed that Mr. Right Now mostly appears when you are the closest to God, but also at the closest to our breaking points? My mom has always told me, "The devil will always fight his hardest when you say that you are trying to do right by God." I believe that. I wish more than anything I could go back and be a small voice in the back of my mind while dating this type of man. I would say, "Where is this leading?" I would also have to ask myself to think of the man I will one day marry. What would I think this man will be like? Godly, loving, and a family man. Then I would ask myself, "Does this man have any of these qualities?" There's your answer. I believe that everyone comes into your life for specific reasons. You feel pain, loneliness, and heartbreak for a reason. But we shouldn't be letting something God has provided as a temporary lesson to stay in our permanent future. Maybe instead of following Mr. Right Now into the darkness, we should be following Christ. Instead of falling on our knees crying in despair, we should be falling to our knees to cry out to the one Man who will never be Mr. Right Now.

We stay too long with people who we know we should not be with. I'll say to my readers what I've said to the vast majority of my friends at some point in their lives, "Why would you want to be with someone who God hasn't picked for you when you know he has better for you?" I think of some of my friends who can't let their temporary man go and my mind switches over to Daniel 3:18, "And if not, he is still good."

What if God was waiting on you to let go of your past so he could give you the future He believes you deserve? Please notice that every miracle in the Bible first started as a problem. All the things you think are hurting you, he has actually designed to teach you. You can't get yourself down because God has not shown you the man you are supposed to marry yet. If he has not shown you, you should trust that you are not ready. So when you're begging God to please send you someone to pacify your loneliness, maybe he is trying to teach you that you are never alone. I wish more than anything that in my time of despair, I would've prayed to God to send me peace and understanding of his will. As I'm writing this my mind is sent back to sitting in a church pew hearing the words, "Isn't it great that when he's four days late, he's still on time." He's always on time because his timing is perfect.

The point I am trying to make to my readers is that there is always purpose in your season of waiting. While you're waiting, pray for the man God is sending you. Pray that he would learn the lessons he needs to learn while he is also waiting to meet you. Because I truly believe that there will be a day when the timing of this all will finally make sense and you will be insanely grateful you waited on the Lord. I know I am. I am writing all of this to tell you always listen when you feel you hear the words, "Wait patiently, beautiful."

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:1-2

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
