Waffles, Grilled Cheese And Nachos OH MY!

Get ready to fill those bellies up with all-you-can-eat late-night dinners for the kids.

This week three sororities will hold their late-night dinners to raise money for their philanthropies, all proceeds of which will benefit the kids.

You can never say no to the kids. They are the light of our lives. They bring us a special joy no one else can because they don't have a single care in the world.

Kappa Delta

Do you like mini-corn dogs? What about nachos? Mini-sliders? Soft pretzels? Of course you do. On Sept. 10 at 10 p.m., Kappa Delta will host their annual "Kickoff With KD" event. In exchange for $5 you can eat unlimited concession stand food. All of the money raised will go to Rainbow House and Prevent Child Abuse America.

Alpha Delta Pi

If you like breakfast for dinner, then be sure to stop by Alpha Delta Pi. On Sept. 11 at 10 p.m. Alpha Delta Pi will be hosting their annual Wafflepalooza. In exchange for $5 you can partake in an all-you-can-eat Belgian waffle bar. All of the proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri. Alpha Delta Pi has pledged $25,000 for a guest room at the Ronald McDonald House, so stop by, eat some waffles and help them fulfill that pledge.

If you cannot make it and still want to show you support follow this link to donate some money.

Gamma Phi Beta

If you are in the mood for something that is homier and gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside, stop by Gamma Phi Beta. On Sept. 11 starting at 10 p.m., Gamma Phi Beta will host their annual Grilled Cheese with GPhi B's. Tickets are $5 before the event and $7 at the door, so be sure to buy your ticket early. In exchange, they will provide you with homemade grilled cheese sandwiches. All proceeds raised will go to benefit Columbia's Girls on the Run, and Hearts for Huntington's.

No matter what sorority or fraternity you are a part of or even if you are not Greek, kids are something we can all agree are a cause worth paying for. I suggest you stop by all three houses, but even if you can only attend one, know that your $5 is going to good use.

So after you have attended all of those parties this weekend, stop by one of these sororities to get your late-night fixing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
