It's obvious that everyone has something to say about the 2016 Presidential election. Whether it be good or bad, views have not been hidden on social media. Constantly I see people sharing their thoughts. Also, I see many people complaining who didn't even go and vote in the primaries.
YOU CAN NOT MAKE A CHANGE IF YOU DO NOTHING ABOUT IT
How do you know who to vote for with all the gossip and nonsense being talked about? The personal is political. Find subject matters that you truly care about and see what the candidates have to say. It can be global warming, women's rights, military funding, etc. With all of the negative conversations had about either candidate, it just sometimes seems like a lost cause. If you don't use your power to vote, you are unable to complain about the future of our country. This does not apply to teens who are unable to vote. But in that case, educate yourself now for future elections and start thinking of issues that matter to you.
It's crucial to remember that there is more to vote on beyond the president selection on the ballot. The Presidents power is depended on whether or not their party affiliation controls the House and/or Senate. Without control there, there is little they can get approved in order to start seeing changes. The President also has the power to vote in Supreme Court Justices, if need be. This can have monumental change in cases that have potential to change the future. State ballots also include local elections that can decide who represents the state. Local ballots additionally consist of voting for state laws like medical marijuana usage, the state's stance on gay marriage, and their position on reproductive rights.
It's important to remember that people fight for the right to vote. It was not handed to us one day with a bow on it. Women and minorities just recently received the right to vote, for example, through long-time fighting for it. People in other countries are desperate for their representation in government decisions. It's astounding that we, as Americans, get to embrace this and be a part of the elections.
Who you vote for speaks volumes about you. How you fight for the candidate says more. It shows what you stand for and what is important for you. We're voting for a better future and a world that is conducive for our future children to thrive in. Go vote in November for your own future!
