Venice High School: where the famous Myrna Lloyd statue stands tall and the beach is just 2.1 miles away from the beach, it was the perfect casting place to film the movie "Grease." Since then it has remained a consistent shooting ground for many more movies and music videos that strive for a nostalgic "high school feel."

So, I jumped down the rabbit hole of research and found a pretty good list of movies and music videos that gave Venice High School screen time. And may I just say, I was so excited about it! After spending my last two years of high school there it may have stirred up a bit of Gondolier pride.

1. "Grease"

They do plays, late night outdoor showings, and even dress up like Pink ladies and T Birds- Ladies and Gentlemen that's Venice High School.

2. "Baby One More Time" - Britney Spears

At 2:42, you can see the schools logo on the floor while Britney and her crew are dancing in the gym.

3. Glee - "Yes/No" (Their rendition of Grease)

That's the cafeteria and bleachers, alright, but I don't think you will find anyone dancing or singing in those areas in real life. I've seen prom proposals in those areas though.

4. Alesso- "Cool Ft. Roy English"

I felt this video showed the whole school off. We visit halls, classes and gyms. Not to mention the library a.k.a my sanctuary for two years. I actually took P.E. in the gym and took chemistry in the lab he dances in. I give the video an 80% for accuracy. The halls are really that dirty and there are tons of kissing couples everywhere!

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street - "No Running in the Hallway"

Yes we got location appearance on Nightmare on Elm Street! Though this lay out of the school is way before my time.

6. The Faders - "No Sleep Tonight"

You can't not laugh at this. I get that they are supposed to be rule breakers, but these girls would be suspended so fast they wouldn't have time to sing "no sleep tonight" in front of the auditorium. You also get punished by the Dean and not the principle from my understanding.

7. Bowling For Soup - "High School Never Ends"

I remember those wooden chairs in the auditorium! They are the definition of uncomfortable. I suggest that you skip after 3:29, the video is kind of vomit inducing after that.

8. Young MC- "Principal's Office"

This one is fun! The basket ball courts are still a big hit during nutrition and lunch. I was told that there were places to hide if you didn't want to get caught outside of class, but I never knew of any. This goes to show you what a goodie-two-shoes I was.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
