I'm not sure why there is so much hype for Valentine's Day when we get older. Let's just all take a minute to appreciate how good we had back then.
1. Everyone gets a Valentine's Day card.
Wasn’t it just the best feeling in the world to go around the classroom and collect your Valentine's Day cards? If only college lectures followed this same tradition.
2. Classroom parties took up the entire day.
No exams, homework assignments, or projects to do on this holiday. The entire day was reserved for celebrating and loving those around you.
3. It was an excuse to color, paint and throw glitter around.
This holiday was made for using all the craft supplies that were normally too messy to use every other day of the year.
4. Watching "A Charlie Brown Valentine" special was a must.
From first grade to fifth grade, you better believe this movie was the background noise to every Valentine's Day party in the school.
5. You thought having a significant other was disgusting.
Who wanted a valentine from a boy anyway? Your girl friends had all the prettiest princess cards and boys just had Spiderman cards.
6. You got to pick out valentines and candy to give to your friends
Nothing beats walking through the isle of CVS looking through all of the boxes of cards. It’s a tough decision between every Disney character created and a million flavors of Fun Dip.
7. The anticipation for the holiday made you excited and happy.
Looking forward to the holiday festivities that were coming up was almost more fun than the holiday itself. I can’t quite remember the last time many girls my age actually got excited for Valentine's Day whether in a relationship or not.
8. You got to wear your favorite red or pink attire.
I think I have probably two pink shirts in my entire closet. The only red I’ll be sporting is in a wine glass curled up on the couch. Cheers to Valentine's Day in college.
