Although summer vacation is most commonly known for vacations to the beach and days at the pool, it is also for setting goals. You may be thinking financial goals if you're a college student, but there are so many other goals besides paying for tuition. Since we are all different and have different goals for ourselves, not all of our goals may be alike. Here are a few goals that you can set for yourself this summer that may help you in the long run.
1. Try to find a day where you stay in for the night with your family.
I know it’s fun to hang out with your friends all summer, but your family would love to see you too. Plus, if you’re a college student, then you really need to utilize this goal before you go back to school.
2. Try to focus on school.
If you plan ahead your classes and how many credits you want to take each semester, it will help you later on. When everyone else is scrambling to make a schedule the night before they have to pick their classes, you can just relax, because you've already done it.
3. Try saving for a car.
I know there is a lot to save for these days, books, tuition, etc., but if you save a little each week, it will add up. It will be nice to say you bought yourself a new car, and it will definitely come in handy after you graduate.
4. Try traveling as much as possible.
My friends and I always talk about how cool it would be if we went on a trip together, but we never actually do it. If you want to take a spontaneous trip somewhere, do it. If you want to save your money and plan a trip, do it. Travel while you can.
5. Try creating more “you time.”
This goal may seem small, but it can really be rewarding, even if it’s just a few minutes a day. It gives you a chance to just relax and take a step back from your hectic life.
6. Try new things.
This one is such a fun goal, because the possibilities are endless. You could try a new fitness class at your local gym, or go to a cooking class if your cooking skills are lacking. You could do something as minor as trying a new hair style. Just try something new, because you never know, you may find a new hobby or look.
7. Try finding quaint, lovable places throughout your city.
There are so many hidden places in your city that often go unnoticed because people don’t take the time to find them. There are coffee shops, boutiques and parks that are waiting for you to go find and explore them.
Your goals don’t have to look like mine, but you should really consider utilizing your summer and setting a few for yourself. Get to it though, because it’s already June.
