How That Dumb Math Equation Or Whatever Useless Thing It Is Will Help You In Life

Sometimes, it seems like 1+1 will never really serve a purpose.

How That Dumb Math Equation Or Whatever Useless Thing It Is Will Help You In Life

Ugh, seriously? How is this going to help me with anything in life?

You've probably said this before and have probably have said it many times. Maybe it's those arbitrary math equations you'll never need because you want to be an English major in college, or maybe it's those really ridiculous rules in English such as "affect" vs. "effect" that you don't find useful. So why in the world do you need to even bother? Why should you waste your sweet and precious life learning these things when you could be spending your time doing other cool, more fun things?

Well, let me tell you, I think that exact thought daily. I think to myself, why do I need to know this? Why did I decide to take a history course that will never come up in my career life?Ughhhhhhh, please make it stop. However, I know that some way, somehow, it'll be useful.

The answer is simple, folks. Education makes you an interesting, well-rounded, dang smart, and full of facts individual. People will actually enjoy talking to you at parties, and they won't be pretending! Pretty cool, huh?

Think about it. If you knew all there was to know about one single topic, you'd seem pretty rad to those who share an interest in that topic (they would also think you're showing off with your mad Albert Einstein level of knowledge). But wait! What if someone didn't know much about that topic, and they were actually interested in something completely different? What if they were completely out of control, and asked to talk about a different subject?!

Wait, what? That's possible? Not everyone thinks like I do? What the *%#@?! Surprise! People like other things than you! Otherwise, the human population would be extremely boring. There's no we in boring, but there certainly is an I. However, that I, doesn't have to be you! Exciting news, isn't it?

So really, it may seem like you're wasting your precious time when you learn about L'Hôpital's Rule in Calculus class, but you're not! You're actually making yourself think and expanding your knowledge, and plus, you get bragging rights about how smart you are if you know how to use it correctly. Otherwise, you kind of look like a fool. However, people like fools, so that's okay, too! So, the next time you wonder how in the world something that seems so pointless is going to help you in life, just think of how diverse and rich in your knowledge you can be (and people will like you at parties, maybe)!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
