As if it weren't apparent enough, Halloween season is in full effect. If you're not a part of the spooky holiday bandwagon, it can feel like you're just dying to get to the next big holiday. Not a big holiday person in the first place? Well, here's some unconventional upcoming celebrations that might just fill that holiday hole in your heart.
1. World Pasta Day (October 25th)
Um, I don't know about you guys, but this is my kind of holiday. Just the thought that there are so many types of pasta is enough to bring tears to my eyes. Am I going to be eating pasta to celebrate pasta? You bet.
2. National Mule Day (October 26th)
If you didn't know already, a mule is a cross between a male donkey and a female horse. While camels have come to be the representative mammal of Wednesdays, otherwise known as "Hump Day", it's fair to say that mules deserve some love and spotlight at least for this one Wednesday out of the year.
3. National Navy Day (October 27th)
While it's safe to say that many would envision anchors, anchors-everything, this day is to salute all of the brave souls who currently serve or have previously served in the U.S Navy, the world's largest naval force.
4. National Chocolate Day (October 28th)
According to the National Confectioner's Association, this would be the second declared National Chocolate Day of the year—I'm more than okay with that because, hello, CHOCOLATE.
5. National Cat Day (October 29th)
Calling all cat-lovers, this is your day to celebrate your feline friends, or to go out and find ways to support the cats who, unfortunately, do not have loving homes. Cats really are mysterious animals that can often be stereotyped as mischievous and independent, but many times prove to be lovable and in-need of a companion.
So there you have it, five recognized holidays that you may have forgotten about or might not have known about at all in the first place. You can always count on others to find something to celebrate every day of the year.
